The Author

Danielle Hogan (she/her) is a distinguished Canadian visual artist, writer, and educator.

With Irish, Italian, and French settler ancestry, she lives as a guest on the unceded and unsurrendered territory of the Wolastoqiyik, Peskotomuhkati, and Mi’kmaq Peoples.

With her artwork and her writing she is frequently looking to challenge and interrogate dominant cultural narratives.

In 2013, Danielle earned the prestigious Dr. William S. Lewis Doctoral Fellowship from the University of New Brunswick. Her doctoral dissertation, "Just Making It: The Stain of Femaffect on Fiber in Art," rigorously examines the detrimental impacts of femaffect on textiles within the realm of art.

Danielle earned a Diploma in Creative Graphics from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design (’95), a BFA from Emily Carr University in Vancouver (2000), and an MFA from the University of Victoria (2003). She completed her PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies at UNB in 2017.

She has participated in several esteemed international residencies, such as those at the Banff Centre, the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, and JIWAR in Barcelona, as well as in Naples.
